9 Tips For Super Zoomers

Self-Leadership Development & Talent Management – 9 Tips For Super Zoomers

Wisdom is the currency of organizational power and influence.

Super Zoomers – those people who are over 60 years old and still fully engaged in the work world. Like Herb Kelleher of Southwest Airlines, Richard Branson, Virgin Group of companies, or Warren Buffet.

Super Zoomers seeking to reinvent ourselves -- and we should be re-inventing ourselves if we want to be relevant, active, competent and influential.

Here are the 9 Tips about how to do this.

1. Identify and transform the behaviours that dull your edges. If you’re in doubt about what they are – ask someone.

2. Rejuvenate your confidence by learning new things and trying them out.

3. Accept your idiot within. Ask him/her to let your genius out of your self-imposed limitations. Your idiot and genius can’t live without each other so they need to be good friends.

4. Tune-up your Emotional Intelligence so you can more easily bridge the generational and gender gaps.

5. Keep moving through the learn, un-learn and re-learn cycle in all areas.

6. First, consider - It, then either: Do It; Delegate It; or Delete It.

7. Get clear on your top three values and be congruent with them.

8. Develop your Self so people will choose to know, like, respect, value, risk with, and trust you. It how you develop your power and influence as your hair greys and/or disappears.

Bring Out The Genius in People

Leadership Development & Talent Management – Use the Law of K.I.S.S. for Productive Performance

Read time 3 minutes.

K.I.S.S. = Keep It Super Simple – make your message to your followers K.I.S.S. if you want to be heard so that they will perform productively.

Too many leaders, managers and supervisors talk too much — about the wrong things — at the wrong time.

Productive Performance is having the competence and motivation to achieve maximum outcomes, in minimum time, with “just-right” efforts, that results in maximum time to enjoy life.

Want to increase your direct reports’ productive performance?

Then be clear, concise, relevant and immediate in your messaging. Very elementary isn’t it?  K.I.S.S. it

The challenge here is how to increase the number of K.I.S.S. contacts, because once they leave your mouth they can be forever gone.

Unless you anchor the K.I.S.S. message with eye contact, urgency, respect and repetition you won’t be heard. Outcome? Non productive performance.

The easiest way is to pick your time & context.

Next question? How to do this?

Most people cannot hold more than two small pieces of new information that could affect their productive performance.

Most employees experience between 200 – 300 interruptions in a day, depending on their job.   A service counter rep is probably up there in the 300 range.

So, simplify the message – K.I.S.S. it for productive performance improvements.

Use The Law Of KISS “Keep It Super Simple”.

  • Don’t say or ask for more than you need.
  • The more you say & ask the less your employees will “get it.”
  • The more frustrated you will become.

Remember this, your employees already have some kind of interest in what you have to say to them. Please – KEEP THAT TOP OF YOUR MIND.

The only reason why they don’t follow instructions  - you haven’t K.I.S.S. ‘ed them in the right way, at the right time.

They do want to do productive performance for you – which is very good. Help them.
